Rhyme Of An Ancient Mariner

I waved at the boat as she started to sail,
Her speed no greater than that of a snail,
In the bright water, filled with sharks and whale
My boat looked sturdy but pale.

As the gentle winds carried her on,
I recollect my sailing days so long gone,
Today here I am standing on the lawn
And launching my boat 'St. John'

With the gentle waves she started to roll,
Lost her course and hit a nearby pole,
Even before she could reach her first goal,
My boat had lost its soul.

The very craft that I so dote.
Began to sink just like a goat,
In desperation I threw my coat,
As down went my paper boat.

Santa's Way

I met Santa on my way,
Hey Santa I asked "where you stay?"
With hair and beard so white and grey
I don't believe north pole is your way.

I walk up and down the lanes,
Sneaking in through the window panes,
Giving children trains and planes,
Said Santa and gave me some manes.

I thanked Santa for his gift
And clever Santa asked me for a lift,
But I replied in a swift,
That I have no sledge to drift.

Santa said you are a good lad
But some of your habits very bad
Hearing this I felt very sad
But soon I knew Santa was my dad.

Note: This is a old poem I wrote couple of years back. It was Selected by Poetry.com, to be included in their 2005 spring edition "Eternal Portraits Series". Just thought It deserved a place in this trash

The Women In My Life

We were doing the walking,
Although she was doing the talking,
She certainly wasn't Joking
I felt her voice was like a frog Croaking.

And then she started to yell,
That even scared the churches bell,
Couple of tiles from a building fell,
My ears got the taste of hell.

Then all the people around gave me a stare,
As if I were a colourful mare,
I was too embarrassed not to care,
And all my pride got a tear.

Like a person who's just been bailed,
My face was getting smaller and paled,
These women always get me nailed,
This time it's my mom, just b'cos I failed.

A Day At School

It was a lazy month of June,
Just hoped it would end soon,
With a soup bowl and a spoon,
I was watching a T.V. cartoon.

I had just come back from school,
A place where a genius becomes a fool,
With dummies called teachers as it's tool
The place is certainly not cool.

Going to school is a big headache,
A pain that I certainly cannot take
Sitting on the same chair and being awake,
I feel like a cake that is about to bake.

With books bigger than Everest,
The last word I here is rest,
With exams , practicals, and test,
It is the most dangerous pest

Kid cute like a blooming Aster,
Is made to work really faster,
Unlike a chapels proud pastor
I am my school's stupid headmaster.

The Way Life Is

Vessels in my kitchen sink,
Lying from days and they stink,
Should I wash them first or have a drink,
Life for me is never rosy and pink.

Staring at the pendulms bob,
I recollect how I lost my job,
Now I will turn the radio knob,
or else ill soon start to sob.

Last week I lost my dog,
Now the only pet I have is a hog,
But I can't take him for a jog,
Only thing I can do now is sleep like a log.

To end this everyday strife,
I'll have to kill myself with a knife,
Or use a better way to end my life,
That is bring home a wife.

Riddle Of Life

I was the third in a bunch of four,
Life for me was Really a bore,
Fighting for food, my skin was sore,
And food was the one which I needed more.

We slept outside a stable,
Staring at the dinner table,
Hoping that the master would be noble ,
Like in some Aesop's fable.

My mom had no money for food,
So leftovers really tasted good,
But my mom always kept me in mood
But sometimes she was really rude.

Winters never made me cold,
Nights always made me bold,
As my life history is being told,
Two of my brothers are being sold.

Be it rain or be it Fog,
Rest of my Life I am expected to slog,
Run with my master or even jog
And to introduce myself I am Jack your Dog

The Day That Never Was

I'm expecting to receive a bottle of wine,
That's what she gives me during Valentine,
Attached to the bottle, a card, with a line,
That usually reads "You are always mine."

I could here her car stop by my door,
In joy me heart started to roar ,
I could wait for her no more,
Without her my life was really a bore .

Her face looked a little sour,
Although she was late by an hour,
She neither had a bottle or a flower ,
But in her hand she held a cover.

I stared at her in appreciation ,
Her presence bought a lot of consolation.
I opened the cover with a lot of expectation ,
In it i found her wedding invitation.
